WHAT IS SCREEN-PRINTING?
Screen-printing is one of the printing techniques used to reproduce images or documents on any material using a fabric (printing frame), by depositing the ink on a support through the free holes of the fabric; the same image can repeated printing the same subject thousands of times.
Screen printing process: First, we process the file separating the different colors; of each color we print before an individual film and then using the film, we engrave the printing frame with a UV light. Printing then is made spreading out ink on the printing frame, in this way the ink goes through the holes engraved printing the image on the object. We repeat this process for each single color of the image.
A bit of history
Screen-printing is one of the oldest printing techniques. We have news in various parts of the world, starting with the Phoenicians in the twelfth century BC up to the fourth century cemeteries Egyptian BC.
Certainly one of the most interesting story is the one that comes from the Polynesian islands, where they used carving plane leaves as frame printing and using them to print textiles. The whole process comes by observing the raindrops seep passing through the holes left by the insects on the leaves.
In the past centuries, materials and machinery have evolved but the basic technique and the process have remained largely unchanged.
